Does Milk Really Help With Weight Loss?

Posted on 11 August 2009 by JD

So you think that milk is good for your body? If yes then you really need to read this article in its entirety. Far too many people believe like you, and I cannot blame anybody for this because dairy farmers are responsible for all these. They claim that milk will help strengthen your bones because of the presence of calcium in it. They also claim that milk will give you such energy boost that you will feel like a superman. Obviously, they want you to believe this way so that they can cash in on your gullibility. However, just as some other myths are doing the rounds of the weight loss industry, this is also a myth.

1. As a matter of fact, the milk you purchase from your local store is not pure milk: it has been processed with the help of pasteurization, meaning that it has been boiled at a temperature of 160 centigrade and then cooled down. Milk is pasteurized in order to kill any and all the germs present in the raw milk. On the flip side, pasteurization not only kills the germs, but also the beneficial nutrients present in it. Enzymes such as lipase and phosphates can be a lot beneficial to your body, but you don’t get those enzymes in the pasteurized milk that you purchase from your local shop.

That is not however the end of the story. Pasteurization also kills antibodies such as immunoglobulin that is present in raw milk. Immunoglobulin helps to immune your body against various diseases. As you can see, milk is in no way beneficial for you, at least not the one that comes in sealed packets.

After pasteurization is completed, the milk is homogenized to keep the cream at the bottom. Once this is done, several synthetic vitamins are added to it in order to make it ‘nutritious’. However, remember that synthetic vitamins are not and can never be substitutes for natural vitamins. They are man-made chemicals and will do more harm than good to your body.

2. Milk causes weight gain: Contrary to what you might believe, milk will actually make you gain weight rather than lose it. If you are in the habit of drinking milk frequently, it is not surprising that you have become overweight. As you drink more and more milk, you will gain more and more weight.

3. Milk causes a host of other diseases: Besides weight gain, there are a lot of harmful side effects of drinking milk, such as skin allergies, cancer, acne, arthritis, constipation, etc.

Do you still want to drink milk? I hope not.

If You Make This Drinking Mistake, You Won’t Lose Weight Fast

Posted on 10 August 2009 by JD

Most people want to lose all those extra pounds which they have accumulated over a considerable period of time! But because of one common mistake they fail to achieve their goals. Those who tell you that fast weight loss is impossible are not telling you the complete truth. Fast weight loss is very much possible provided that you don’t make this one mistake.

The mistake is that people believe that all calories are available only in the foods they eat, and that in order to lose weight, they just need to reduce their food intake. When they notice that they have not lost any significant weight despite drastic reduction in food intake, they reduce their food intake even further, and further, until it reaches to a point where they have to virtually starve most of the time! Still it doesn’t help them much! So what is the reason behind it?

The reason is that they might be drinking certain drinks that are rich on calories. Remember that drinks contain as much calories as foods, if not more! Many people make the mistake of assuming that drinks don’t fall within the purview of ‘dietary restrictions’. This is just a misconception. In fact, I would say that some drinks contain more calories than their food equivalents. Just as there are junk foods, they are ‘junk drinks’ too! Avoiding these drinks will help you lose weight pretty fast!

The first drink you need to avoid is alcohol. I know it is hard to get rid of it, but try your best to cut down on your alcohol intake as much as you can, at least until you have successfully lost all those extra pounds!

Alcohol is bad for you for two reasons. First, it is obviously rich in calorie; in fact, it has even more calories per gram than some of the fatty foods out there. The second reason is that it acts as a diuretic, causing your body to lose valuable water. Worse, it produces toxins in your body!

As a result, your metabolic rate becomes low, and the process of weight loss slows down; plus those toxins act as obstacles for your weight loss efforts. Until you get rid of these toxins from your body, there is simply no way out!

Soda is another thing that you need to forget about! You should also avoid fizzy drinks because they are high on sugar content, which in turn means that they are rich in empty calories that dissolve very quickly in your body and get converted into fat deposits, making you gain even more weight!

The only drink you should drink is plain water. Water is indeed the best natural medicine for weight loss! It boosts your metabolic rate, keeps your body healthy and hydrated, and by flushing out the toxins out of your body, it makes the weight loss process easier for you!

Once you know which drinks to drink and which ones to avoid, fast weight loss wouldn’t seem to be an impossible goal for you!

An Easy Meal Plan For You

Posted on 10 August 2009 by JD

CALORIES: You have been told that calories matter in weight loss, and in fact, it IS true to some extent. Not only calories, even the time at which you eat your foods can affect your body weight. For example, there is a reason why doctors ask you not to eat after 7 pm. If you eat at night, you will inevitably get to bed soon after that. Now, your body won’t be able to burn the calories to the fullest extent; consequently it will store the extra calories as fat deposits!

In order to lose weight, it is important that you plan your calorie intake in such a way that you would finish consuming your targeted amount of calories within evening. For example, let’s say that you have decided to consume only 1,300 calories per day in order to lose weight. Now, you could distribute your calories in the following way:

Breakfast: 300 calories

Lunch: 400 Calories

Evening snack: 100 calories

Dinner: 500 Calories

Once you have planned your calorie distribution, you should plan your meals too! For example, you might be wondering what foods you should eat at breakfast that would take care of your 300 calories! I have a suggestion for you! Have a large bagel with one tablespoonful of cheese on it. That is exactly 300 calories!

What about lunch? A bowl of soup, or club sandwiches, could make ideal foods for your lunch.

Snacking needn’t be restrictive; in fact I recommend that you indulge yourself a bit in snacking so that you don’t cheat on your diet plan later on. As long as you keep your calorie restriction in mind, anything such as ice cream or a chocolate bar is okay for you. Or if you are health conscious, you can give apple a try. One apple contains exactly 100 calories!

For dinner, I would recommend that you have mashed potatoes, raw vegetables, salad and lean pork chops! That would take care of the required 500 calories!

I just gave you a solid food plan above. Do you think it is boring? Whoever said that you need to eat boring and raw foods all your life for the purpose weight loss is just plain ignorant. You can eat to your heart’s satisfaction and still lose weight, provided that you plan your meals ahead and keep the calorie restrictions in mind!

And make sure that you control your appetite and eat within limits. Just because you are allowed one cup of ice cream doesn’t mean that you would end up eating five!
